Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Salma, chaired the celebration of the National Day Against Cancer on Wednesday evening at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech. Princess Lalla Salma is the chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.
Princess Lalla Salma reviewed part of the Auxiliary Forces that paid the honours and was greeted by dignitaries, including the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch; Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy; and Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara.
The Lalla Salma Foundation presented the synthesis report and recommendations following the “Breast Cancer in Morocco: a global approach” symposium for the occasion. The symposium was held to take stock of the progress of the 2010-2019 anti-cancer plan for the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer. Dr Christopher P. Wild, Director of the International Cancer Research Centre in Lyon gave a lecture called, “Breast Cancer: A Major and International Challenge.”
Princess Lalla Salma handed the International Award for the fight against cancer to Professor Claude Chardot, who has been pioneering the fight against cancer in France. He was instrumental in creating the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat. The National Award was handed to Pr. Hassan Errihani, who is one of the leading oncologists of Morroco.
