Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco is the chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment. Tuesday, in Doha, she took part in the opening ceremony of the 3rd annual World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH). This summit takes place from 29-30 November and is hosted by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. The Princess was issued an invitation by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser of Qatar to attend the summit.
WISH is a ‘global healthcare community dedicated to capturing and disseminating the best evidence-based ideas and practices’ to the countries attending. These summits provide attending countries with the opportunity to develop their health sectors after examining various reports issued by WISH. To assist in this, countries can integrate the WISH detection and assessment system.
The Princess, along with HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, all visited the Innovations Exhibition after the opening ceremony. Here, they were filled in on the various exhibitions selected for this specific event.
During the WISH opening ceremony, HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser welcomed the experts, decision-makers and representatives from over 100 countries. She said, in part: “The catalyst for our actions was our conviction that the principles of health awareness require a developed vision that would ensure a medical protection transcending the present as part of a forecasting vision that addresses the different challenges.
“It was decided to focus on the sectors of education and health which are correlates of scientific research, sustainable development and human development.
“No country has a perfect health system. All countries in the world are facing the different health challenges.”
She underlined that this event is an occasion for the participants to benefit from the reports issued by WISH to develop their health sectors and integrate the WISH detection and assessment system. Furthermore, promotional health-related documentaries were shown. Pr Lord Darzi, WISH executive chair, and Pr Dame Sally Davis, England’s chief medical officer also spoke.
