King of Bhutan features in October calendar from Yellow Bhutan

His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel of Bhutan is featured in the free October calendar released by Yellow Bhutan. They release a free desktop (Mac and PC) and smartphone calendars each month of the year, often with images of the members of the Bhutanese Royal Family.

The King is photographed in a group photo from the Dassain celebration at Lingkana Palace. The wife of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel, Queen Jetsun Pema, explained the celebration on her Facebook saying, “Dassain is one of the most important festivals of the Hindu community in Bhutan. The festival, which lasts for 15 days, starts from the new moon till the full moon on the Hindu month of Ashvin/Asauj.”

On the download page, Yellow Bhutan said, “October is a festive month, with the Tshechus mostly falling on this month, as well as the Hindu festivals of Dassain and Tewar. The festivities are made all the more special as this month marks the Royal Wedding Anniversary on the 13th.

“This month’s calendar, featuring a picture from the Dassain celebration at Lingkana Palace, is dedicated to the festive season, and to the values of familial togetherness, with many blessings and good wishes for all.”

The King and Queen will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on 13 October.

The free calendars include both the Gregorian calendar dates and Bhutanese Lunar calendar dates. The calendar for this month can be downloaded from their website here.

The King and Queen’s son, The Gyalsey (Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck) has been featured numerous times in the calendars, including last month.

After Yellow Bhutan released the October edition, Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema and His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck shared the post on their official Facebook pages.
