Yesterday, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan visited the Al Kifah Cooperative Society in Ajloun to see the projects they have been carrying out. While there, Her Majesty was able to meet and speak to the women who are beneficiaries of the projects in an effort to learn about their work in organic and sustainable agriculture.
Upon arrival, she was welcomed to the Al Kifah Cooperative Society by its President, Nusaybah Al Momani. Queen Rania then went to the coffee shop within the society, “Summaga Café” to view the preparation process of the food. There, she lauded the beneficiaries’ “holistic vision on organic agriculture and the high quality of the society’s produce,” according to Her Majesty’s Press Office.
The shop prepares food that is later sold in Amman at the Souq Al Shams Farmers’ Market (which was established thanks to the support of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature and Invest Bank) and the Wild Jordan Center.

Her Majesty the Queen later toured the society’s model micro farm and was able to see a sample of the products sold in the market and centre.
She later remarked about the ongoing challenges of the promotion of organic produce in Jordan while also highlighting the promotional efforts of the organisation. Additionally, she provided encouragement to the beneficiaries who share their stories on the leveraging of their work at the farmer’s market and centre.
The Al Kifah Cooperative Society, established in 2004, has 45 active paying members with over 90% being women. It also “ensures the provision of life and professional skills training to guarantee the sustainability and growth of its ongoing projects.” The organisation strives to improve upon and grow organic farming in the area so that the citizens have both affordable and safe food options.
