Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan attends inauguration of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah travelled to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday to attend the inauguration of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on Monday.

Before leaving Jordan, His Royal Highness accompanied his father, King Abdullah II, in a meeting with German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen. Upon his arrival on Sunday in the UAE, he was greeted by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court.

The Crown Prince also participated in the Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony, as well, on Monday and met the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Additionally, he visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is the largest mosque in the UAE.

During his meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Hussein “stressed the ‘deep-rooted’ relations between Jordan and the UAE, expressing keenness on boosting these relations on all levels in favour of the two countries’ people,” reported the Jordan Times.

His Royal Highness posted three images from his trip including a photo of the mosque saying, “Masha’Allah.” The other two photos were from his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and during the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week has 35,000 participants from 175 countries and is the largest sustainability gathering in the region. The theme this year is “Driving the Global Energy Transformation” with the aim of promoting an “understanding of the key social, economic and environmental trends that guide sustainable development and discuss the challenges facing renewable energy and sustainable development,” according to the Petra News Agency.

Crown Prince Hussein is the first child of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan; he was born in Amman on 28 June 1994. He has two younger sisters, Princesses Iman and Salma (b. 1996 & 2000), and one younger brother, Prince Hashem (b. 2005). Hussein was named as Crown Prince of Jordan by Royal Decree on 2 July 2009.
