Princess Haya posts heartfelt message on Instagram calling for people to help refugees

Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein has urged people to help refugees.

Attention was drawn to the Jordanian Princess’s Instagram page earlier this week as she made a heartfelt pledge calling for nations to recognise that refugees are in need of help. The post focused on the war in South Sudan, which is currently ongoing and how relief is being shipped to South Sudan for the Sudanese refugees. Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein used the Instagram post to address the issue, saying:

“The sad and frightening truth is that the refugees fleeing South Sudan no longer have the means to survive and are in desperate need of this aid. They are the victims of a collapsing economy and conflict; a conflict that continues with no resolution in sight that has left millions the victim of famine, including many children. Yes, we need to deliver aid, but we also need to force an end to this war. We can no longer ignore what is going on. We all need to act now.”

Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein also attached a series of pictures to the Instagram post. The pictures include a photograph of a cargo, which contains 95.3 tonnes of relief for South Sudan. The pictures also show the shipment being loaded onto a plane. The aircraft, donated by Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates – Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the husband of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein. The relief was donated by the UN Refugee Agency, also known as the UNHCR.

Princess Haya outlined the extent of relief being shipped to help South Sudanese refugees.

“Relief supplies being loaded at the International Humanitarian City to be airlifted to South Sudanese Refugee camps in Uganda. In total, 95.3 metric tonnes of relief is being supplied by UNHCR on a 747B cargo aircraft donated by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The UNHCR is frontline in the global refugee crisis, and its work is phenomenal.”

She has urged people to ‘no longer ignore what is going on’ saying ‘we all need to act now.’
