His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan is not known to just sit on the sidelines, and he recently helped to put out a fire near the Jordanian capital of Amman and the Royal Palace. He assisted the Jordanian Army and civil defence teams in extinguishing the blaze.
On Sunday, a video began being circulated by Arab social media activists of His Majesty, who has a military background, helping put out the inferno in the area of Kamaliyeh. The 55-year-old King is seen in a black t-shirt carrying a fire extinguisher and heading toward the blaze located on the “green mountain range with a spring weather and heavy air, located along the edges of the Royal Palace,” according to Ammon News.
Luckily, no injuries were reported from the fire thanks to the first responders who rushed to the scene on the outskirts of the Jordanian capital. It has now been completely extinguished.
King Abdullah later tweeted his appreciation from his official Twitter account to the Jordanian Army and civil defence for their work in extinguishing the fire. He said, “By the grace of the brave of all the military and civil devices, the fire of Kamalism was extinguished yesterday, thank you for all the efforts that they have made, God save you and save Jordan.”
It is not known if His Majesty’s family was at home at the Royal Palace when the blaze began.
King Abdullah II has been on the Jordanian throne since his father, King Hussein’s death in 1999. He married the now-Queen Rania in 1993. Together, they have four children: Crown Prince Hussein (b. 1994), Princess Iman (b. 1996), Princess Salma (b. 2000) and Prince Hashem (b. 2005).
