Third birthday photo revealed of Prince Oscar of Sweden

The Swedish Royal Court revealed a new image of Prince Oscar of Sweden today to celebrate his third birthday. The image was taken by Sara Friberg. His Royal Highness is spending his special day privately at home with family.

It has been a busy few weeks for the Crown Princess Family as Princess Estelle turned seven in February. Prince Oscar featured in one of the two snowy photographs released for her birthday on 23 February.

The Prince ranks third in the line of succession to the Swedish throne and is the second grandson and fourth grandchild (of seven) of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

His Royal Highness Prince Oscar Carl Olof of Sweden, Duke of Skåne, was born on 2 March 2016 at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Sweden. He is the second child and only son of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden. He has one older sister, Princess Estelle.

He was christened in the Swedish Royal Family’s antique christening gown in the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Palace on 27 May 2016. Following tradition, his name and date of the christening were embroidered on the gown after the ceremony.

Prince Oscar’s godparents are his maternal aunt, Princess Madeleine; maternal cousin, Oscar Magnuson (the son of Princess Christina – the sister of the King); Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark; Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway; and his paternal cousin, Hans Åström.

At only three-years-old, he already holds two national honours. He is a Knight of the Royal Order of the Seraphim and a Knight of the Order of Charles XIII.

Sweden’s young royal birthdays don’t end here. In just a few days, on 9 March, Princess Adrienne will celebrate her first birthday. She is the youngest child of Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill.
