Princess Madeleine of Sweden has finally revealed her children’s book that she has been working on for the past year.
The Princess revealed her debut book yesterday with a photo of the cover. Madeleine is credited simply as Madeleine Bernadotte in the Swedish language book called “Stella och hemligheten,” which means “Stella and the Secret” in English.
In an Instagram post, Her Royal Highness stated, “I’m very excited to finally share with you a book which will hopefully show children how important it is to stand up for themselves and to tell someone when something doesn’t feel right #worldchildhoodfoundation.”
The book is in line with the World Childhood Foundation’s work with children’s rights. It was written in collaboration with Karini Gustafson-Teixeira and Marie Oskarsson. It was illustrated by Stina Lövkvist and will be published in June 2019.
In a press release, the Swedish Royal Court remarked, “The book wants to give all children the strength to stand up for themselves and the knowledge that it is important to tell from when something does not feel good.
“The book “Stella and the Secret” is about integrity, self-esteem and trust and is aimed at children in the primary school age and their parents.”
Princess Madeleine also said, “For several years, we have longed for our book, “Stella and the Secret,” to become a reality. We hope that the book can contribute to conversations between children and adults about difficult issues about boundaries, children’s rights and how to handle these situations.”
The World Childhood Foundation will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. Queen Silvia founded the organisation in 1999, and on 7 February, a celebratory dinner will be held in honour of the occasion. Queen Silvia will, of course, be in attendance, and Princess Madeleine will fly in from Florida to attend, as well.
