Crown Princess Victoria thanks the Swedish people

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has released a statement on the Swedish Monarchy’s website and social media feeds expressing her gratitude for all the birthday wishes she received for her 40th birthday on 14 July.

Her Royal Highness said, “I would like to thank you for all the congratulations associated with my birthday. Thank you for the warmth you showed, both in Stockholm and Öland and in many regards. It was nice to celebrate my birthday with you.”

The Crown Princess continued, “I would also like to thank you for all generous contributions to our foundation. Our foundation works to promote good health and counteract childhood and youth exclusion. Your contributions will benefit many. “

Celebrations took place over a two day period, 14 through 15 July, in the Swedish capital of Stockholm and the island of Öland where thousands turned out to celebrate the future Queen of Sweden’s milestone birthday.

The celebrations, with all of the Swedish Royal Family in attendance, began on her actual birthday in Stockholm with a Te Deum with a reception afterwards at Logården and carriage ride through the streets. It continued to Öland in the evening for the continuing celebrations which consisted of the Royal Family riding in carriages from Solliden Palace to the traditional concert held each year in her honour at Borgholm Sports Field.

The next day many well-wishers gathered at Solliden Palace, and as is tradition, the King, Queen and Crown Princess Family greeted the crowds outside of the palace at 11 am. Many brought Crown Princess Victoria gifts and flowers. Princess Estelle walked with her mother collecting the flowers in a basket, and Prince Oscar was seen playing with the pebbles on the walkway.
