The Crown Princess Family of Sweden has released several new photos in celebration of Midsummer (Midsommar) – an important holiday in Sweden. They were taken at the family home at Haga Palace by Erika Gerdemark.
The four photos feature Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel’s two children, five-year-old Princess Estelle and one-year-old Prince Oscar. A message from the Crown Princess Family was attached saying, “The Crown Princess Family wishes you a happy Midsummer!”
In three of the images, the siblings are standing on the balcony; in one of the pictures, Princess Estelle, a future Queen of Sweden, is shown solo on the balcony looking out to the Haga Park. The other black and white photo shows Estelle holding her baby brother on the couch.
Earlier this month, as has become a tradition for Crown Princess Victoria and her family, images were released on Sweden’s National Day featuring Princess Estelle in the Swedish national costume and her younger brother. A photo of the Princess in the national dress has been released each year on the national holiday since she was one.
The Swedish Royal Family are known to release an array of different photographs throughout the year of the family but in particular the younger generation. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s five grandchildren are regularly featured. Besides Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, the King and Queen have three other grandchildren and one on the way: Princess Leonore (b. 2014) and Prince Nicolas (b. 2015) through Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill and Prince Alexander (b. 2016) through Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia. Sofia is due to give birth to her and Carl Philip’s second child in September.
