Their Majesties King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía of Spain attended their first royal engagement together since 1 July. The couple usually spends most of the summer separately. This year the Queen spent her time in Mallorca while the King travelled around to Ireland, Saint Tropez and other locations.
Their first event together of the autumn was to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Entrepreneurs Circle at the Royal Club of the Iron Gate on 25 September. Their Majesties were welcomed by the Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Báñez; former Prime Minister of Spain, Fernando Ramírez de Haro; President of the Entrepreneurs Circle, Javier Vega de Seoane; and members of the Board of Directors of the Entrepreneurs Circle.
King Juan Carlos spoke a few words at the event telling those assembled that he had an appreciation for their work “and contribution to the public debate in the socio-economic sphere.”
Additionally, he praised the work of the Entrepreneurs Circle saying that their “contribution is also concrete through their programmes of cooperation with society, bringing the world of business closer to university students, parliamentarians and entrepreneurs, through successful initiatives.”
His Majesty added that they were “the backbone of Spanish civil society, mobilising and coordinating regional business associations with similar objectives and a common concern for the future of Spain.”
At the conclusion of the King’s speech, the guests were treated to dinner before Their Majesties left the Madrid event.
The Entrepreneurs Circle also organised the International Summit of Business Think Tanks 2017 that was held yesterday and attended by His Majesty King Felipe.
According to Casa Real, the Entrepreneurs Circle’s primary objectives “are the promotion of free market and free enterprise, recognition of the social value of entrepreneur as a creator of employment, wealth and general well-being and the promotion of entrepreneurship.” It was created in 1977.
