His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia, was born 17 July 1945 in London. His Royal Highness is the head of the House of Karađorđević and the only child of the late King Peter II of Yugoslavia and his wife, Alexandra of Greece and Denmark. The Crown Prince graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1966 and was commissioned as an officer in the British Army’s “The Queen’s Royal Lancers Regiment,” rising to the rank of captain. His tours of duty included West Germany, Italy, Northern Ireland, and the Middle East.
In 1991, Crown Prince Alexander, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Katherine, Hereditary Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander, travelled to Belgrade; after the fall of communism, the family no longer needed to be in exile. Since then, the Crown Prince has worked to improve the living conditions for the Serbian people and to restore the monarchy in Serbia.
His Royal Highness has been, and is, a defender of the Serbian democracy. In 1989, he took a very active role in helping his people shake off the legacy of decades of dictatorship and the communist regime. In the years that followed, the Crown Prince worked to promote democracy in not just Serbia but all the former Yugoslavian republics, and in 1999, he hosted a large conference in Budapest for the representatives of the Democratic Opposition in Serbia.
In his spare time, Crown Prince Alexander enjoys skiing, sailing, water skiing and tennis.
Royal Central is very pleased to have been given the honour to conduct a private and exclusive interview with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia. The interview will take place at the Royal Palace in Belgrade, in late June. Royal Central will discuss Crown Prince Alexander’s life, the return to Serbia after the fall of communism, the Crown Prince couple’s aid work for Serbian children and the possible restoration of the Serbian monarchy with Their Royal Highnesses.
