At the end of July, the Royal Palace of Belgrade announced that His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the son of Crown Prince Alexander and Princess Maria da Gloria Orleans-Braganza, was engaged to Ms Danica Marinkovic.
The formal announcement, displayed on their official website and social media accounts, said, “Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine and Princess Maria da Gloria Orleans-Braganza have great pleasure to announce that HRH Prince Philip is engaged to Ms Danica Marinkovic, daughter of Mr Milan Marinkovic – Cile and Mrs Beba Marinkovic.”
The Royal Palace has now revealed that the wedding will take place on Saturday, 7 October of this year at the Cathedral of St Michael the Archangel (“Saborna crkva”) in Belgrade, Serbia. It will be officiated by the Serbian Patriarch His Holiness Irinej.
The 35-year-old Prince was born in Fairfax, Virginia, on 15 January 1982 as the child of Crown Prince Alexander and Princess Maria da Gloria of Orleans Bragança. He is the older fraternal twin of Prince Alexander. Prince Philip is second in line to the throne after his older brother, Hereditary Prince Peter. In July 2001, His Royal Highness travelled with his father, step-mother Crown Princess Katherine and siblings back to Serbia after the fall of communism.
Danica Marinkovic, a successful graphic designer and collage artist, was born on 17 August 1986 in Belgrade. However, Ms Marinkovic is a citizen of France as she has resided in the country since 1992. She holds an MA in Graphic Design Communication from the Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts of London; she graduated in 2009. Her father is a respected and well-known artist in Serbia.
