Crown Princess Katherine sends humanitarian help to Kosovo and Metohija

Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia has, in order to help the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija again this year, sent a donation worth more than 10,000 dollars to the food depository of “Mother of the Nine Jugovic.” The Serbian Royal Court informs that the packages for the Serbian population consist of basic food likes flour, pasta, beans, rice, spices, soups, oils, and sugar.  Baby’s nappies were also donated. The donation was provided thanks to Lifeline Chicago Humanitarian Organization.

Crown Princess Katherine says regarding the donation: “Crown Prince Alexander and I will always help as much as we can to ease the challenging lives of our people in Kosovo”. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, a move which Serbia rejects. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

The food depository of “Mother of the Nine Jugovic” manages 6 meal centres throughout Kosovo and Metohia, providing meals for over two thousand people. The management of this organization were delighted to receive this donation. The organization was established in 2000 and is officially registered by the UN Mission in Kosovo. During its twelve years of work, the organization has worked intensively with international and local NGOs. The organization is headquartered in Gracanica Monastery.

Crown Princess Katherine has been helping and providing necessary medical equipment to Serbia for more than two decades. Last year, the Serbian Crown Prince Couple held a series of charity events throughout Canada.  For her dedication to charitable work, the Crown Princess received the Pope Francis Award for Charity and Leadership.

In 1993, Crown Princess Katherine founded the Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation which currently has offices in Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens. This organisation, together with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, works to collect money for medical equipment that has been delivered to numerous hospitals in Serbia.
