Crown Princess Katherine financed and opened new playground

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, opened on Thursday a brand new playground that she has founded. The new playground is worth more than 12,000 EUR and is located at the home for children without parental care “Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj”.

“The reason for today’s visit is this beautiful donation of the children’s playground where the children will spend their free time and play sports. The donation is provided through Lifeline Chicago Humanitarian Organisation, whose patron I am, as a gift from the Foundation of John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich. I am very happy because this donation will enable children to have fun, enjoy playing outdoors and create a balance of their day-to-day living”, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

The playground was also sponsored by the Foundation of John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich. The Wuchenich family is one of the largest individual donors of Lifeline Chicago Humanitarian Foundation, whose patron is Crown Princess Katherine.

The Crown Princess has always done charitable work. During her interview with Royal Central last summer, the Crown Princess said:

“I had parents that taught me the joy of giving, not the joy of taking. And they didn’t just tell me; they lived their life by giving. They prepared me for my role without knowing what my future would be. I was very young, and when you learn the joy of giving when you are young, you never forget it. I prayed to God for an opportunity to give of myself since that is happiness, and God gave me Alexander and a whole country. So when you pray, you have to make sure that is what you want.”

In 1993, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine founded the Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation which currently has offices in Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens. This organisation, together with “HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation,” works to collect money for medical equipment to be delivered to numerous hospitals in Serbia.
