On Friday, three new royal cadets graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst after a 44-week course: Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg and Prince Wenzel of Liechtenstein.
Crown Prince Hussein’s father, King Abdullah II of Jordan, represented Her Majesty The Queen at the Sandhurst Sovereign’s Parade as the Reviewing Officer. The King had the honour of addressing the cadets after the parade reminiscing on his time as a cadet at the Sandhurst a few decades before and the challenges they face in the future. He concluded by emphasising that the cadets must always “do what’s right.”
Hussein’s mother, Queen Rania, three siblings, Princesses Iman and Salma and Prince Hashem, and grandmother, Princess Muna, were also in attendance. Both King Abdullah and Queen Rania praised their son on Twitter after his commencement.
The King said, “Proud of you, son, as you conclude this important chapter in your life and devotedly carry on serving our beloved Jordan.”
Queen Rania showed her pride for her eldest child by tweeting, “Congratulations on graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in the footsteps of your father, we are both so very proud of you!”
Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg also graduated on Friday with his family watching on proudly. His father, Grand Duke Henri; mother, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, brothers, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Félix and Prince Louis; sister, Princess Alexandra; and sisters-in-law, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie and Princess Claire watched as Henri and Maria Teresa’s youngest child graduated.
The Grand Ducal Court released several images of Prince Sébastien with his parents at Sandhurst earlier this year when they travelled to the United Kingdom to visit him.
Both Crown Prince Hussein, Prince Sébastien and Prince Wenzel of Liechtenstein are the latest in their families to attend Sandhurst.
Aside from Hussein’s father, other members of the Jordanian Royal Family have attended Sandhurst; they include his grandfather, King Hussein; aunts, Princesses Iman and Aisha; and uncles, Princes Ali, Hamzah, and Hashim. Sébastien also followed a family tradition by attending the military school; his father; grandfather, Grand Duke Jean; brothers, the Hereditary Grand Duke and Prince Félix; and uncle, Prince Jean, among others, were students at Sandhurst. Wenzel follows in the steps of Alois, Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein.
