Prince Carl Philip designs line of glasses for Swedish brand

A new line of designer glasses and sunglasses released by Synsam has the royal seal of approval with pieces designed by His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip’s design duo, Bernadotte & Kylberg.

Together with his partner, Oscar Kylberg, Prince Carl Philip has spent the last two years working on this design partnership which has resulted in nine sets of glasses and sunglasses with “textures and colours inspired by Swedish nature” for Synsam, the Swedish chain of leading opticians established in 1968. The duo created the glasses in shapes which are designed to sit naturally and “simplify the everyday life of the user”.

The collection was introduced yesterday at a reception for specially invited journalists and influencers and President and CEO of Synsam, Håkan Lundstedt, issued a press release about the collaboration, saying: “We can not think of a better partner to create our first unique collection in line with our innovation efforts.” Bernadotte & Kylberg CEO, Oscar Kylberg, said: “We share Synsam’s vision of combining design and function. We like what Synsam does and their desire to challenge the conventions.”

This new collection of glasses and sunglasses follows previous successful projects for Bernadotte & Kylberg in glass, porcelain, and textiles. This includes wine glasses for Zweisel Kristallglas, their ‘Air Sense’ design winning first place in four out of seven categories in renowned European Wine Magazine VINUM. Of the accomplishment, Kylberg said: “Our products get this amazing recognition is proof of high concept, design and quality. We want to promote Swedish form in the world and could not be more proud of this recognition.” They also designed the “Whisper” hunting suit which is said to be one of the quietest ones on the market and the best for ensuing game is not scared away by normal hunting wear accoutrements such as metal buttons and zips.
