The President of Iceland, his wife and the Norwegian regent couple met again this afternoon. At this point, they participated in a meeting at NORLA, a centre that works to promote Norwegian literature abroad. The Kingdom of Norway is the honorary guest at the large Frankfurt Book Fair in 2019, and the King, Queen and presidential couple, therefore, were able to learn more about the work that NORLA does ahead of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2019.
The royal guests and the presidential couple were very interested to hear more about Norway’s participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair in a few years. The President of Iceland is an accomplished historian and has written several books himself.
After this event, they all went on to the Great Hall of the University of Oslo, which is centrally located in downtown Oslo and beautifully decorated with large pictures painted by the world famous artist Edward Munch. President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson was invited to give a lecture in connection with a seminar on cooperation between the Nordic nations.
At the seminar, various important politicians from across the Nordic region and the principal of the University of Oslo, Ole Petter Ottersen were all in attendance. President Jóhannesson’s lecture was titled “What challenges? What opportunities? The future of the Nordic model.”
This evening there will be held a large-scale gala dinner at the Royal Norwegian Palace. Royal Central will be present and give you a fresh update and the best pictures from the dinner.
