The Norwegian royal court has recently published some new pictures of the Crown Prince family surfing. This is because Norway is hosting this year’s European Championship of Surfing. The pictures are from a private vacation the Crown Prince family took in Hoddevik outside of Stadt, in the west of Norway. Some of the pictures are also from another surfing holiday Crown Prince Haakon had last year, which are being published for the first time.
Earlier this year it was announced that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon was asked to sit on the committee that will plan the European Championships in surfing this year and in 2018.
When the Crown Prince was asked to sit on the committee and agreed to do so, the Norwegian Sailing Federation released the following statement: “The Royal Norwegian Sailing Federation has become a multi-sports federation of surfing as a new sport in addition to sailing. We look forward to having them in our union, and it will enrich efforts to give people the joy of being at sea. Getting the Crown Prince with the integration process is extremely useful and also very inspiring. He follows the history of his family’s strong interest in sports at sea.”
Crown Prince Haakon is himself an accomplished surfer and practices the sport as a hobby.
