His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, has yesterday and today participated at the conference “SIKT”, a conference he founded four years ago and which so far has been very successful.
“SIKT” is an event that works to ensure that young leaders have an arena to get to know one another. The conference enables young leaders to exchange ideas and inspire each other in an environment that is innovative and unprejudiced. The conference is this year held in Ålesund, but 200 young leaders from all over Norway are attending this year’s conference. These are leaders from the private sector, public organizations, the Norwegian cultural sector and sports associations.
It is the fourth time that the conference is held and this year it has been decided to hold the event in Ålesund, a city that has been hit hard by the economic slowdown in the Norwegian offshore-industry. This is done to increase the focus on how to get new industries in coastal towns and create new value by rethinking. Ålesund also has one of the largest export ports for fish, which will only become more important in the future, says the Crown Prince on the organizer’s website.
His Royal Highness has contributed with 500,000 crowns (about £ 50,000) for the conference. In the invitations sent out to participants, the Crown Prince writes a special greeting to the invited participants. Here the Crown Prince writes that the invitees are Norway’s future and that they have a lot to contribute with. A number of prominent Norwegian and foreign peoples have held lectures for the Crown Prince and the other guests, including soccer-player Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Zeinab Badawi from BBC.
Monday night the Crown Prince held a speech at a dinner held by the conference.
