Birth of fourth grandchild for Princess Caroline of Hanover

Last year, Royal Central announced that Pierre Casiraghi (son of Princess Caroline) and his wife, Beatrice Borromeo were expecting their first baby in early 2017. The Italian journalist gave birth to a healthy baby boy on 28 February in the small principality at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre.

Princess Caroline and Beatrice’s mother, Countess Paola Marzotto released a joint statement to the media which read: “The Princess of Hanover and the Countess Paola Marzotto have the joy of announcing the birth of their grandson born on 28 February 2017. The mother and the child are doing well.”

We have yet to learn the name of the baby boy or if mother and baby have left hospital; Royal Central will pass along any news once it becomes available.

The baby is the fourth grandchild for Princess Caroline and the late Stefano Casiraghi. Pierre’s older brother, Andrea Casiraghi, already has two children with his wife, Tatiana Santo Domingo. Charlotte Casiraghi, Pierre’s older sister, has a son, Raphaël.

Pierre Casiraghi is the son of Princess Caroline of Monaco and the late Stefano Casiraghi. Prince Albert of Monaco is Pierre’s uncle. His grandmother is the late Princess Grace of Monaco, also known as the famous American actress, Grace Kelly.

Pierre and Beatrice dated for over seven years before marrying in 2015. The couple wed in two different ceremonies. The civil ceremony took place on 25 July in the gardens of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. A couple of days later, on 1 August, they held their religious ceremony on Isola Bella, Italy. The island is one of the Borromean Islands of Lago Maggiore in the north of Italy. It is the private property of Beatrice’s family.

Though Pierre and Beatrice don’t carry out official royal engagements, they do accompany the Princess to official events such as the Rose Ball and the National Day celebrations in Monaco. During the national holiday in Monaco last November, the world was finally made aware of the couple’s joyous news.
