On 2 March, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg held two audiences at the Grand Ducal Palace with representatives from the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) and the Kiwanis Club Mondorf.
Both organisations gave checks to the Grand Duchess, who serves as president, to benefit the Foundation of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. The €29,554.52 check from LCTO was presented by Marc Angel, President; Martine Voss, Deputy Director; and Antje Voss, Marketing Manager.
According to a press release by the Grand Ducal Court, “Since 1977, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) organises guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace during the months of July and August.” The funds from these tours are presented each year to the Foundation of the Grand Duke and Duchess, and this year that profit was over €29,500. There were 11,003 visitors to the Grand Ducal Palace in 2016.
The Kiwanis Club Mondorf was represented by Jean Schoos, a member of the Kiwanis Club Mondorf; Emile Walch, President of the Kiwanis Club Mondorf; and Claude Bentz, Vice-President of the Kiwanis Club Mondorf. They presented a check for €25,000.
The Kiwanis Club Mondorf recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and “supports the project of economic support for Burundian youth and children who are refugees in Rwanda,” according to the Grand Ducal Court. The economic support, which aims to young Burundian refugees in Rwandan camps an economic and life perspective, is within the framework of the Shalom House in Rwanda’s activities. The Shalom House in Rwanda has partnered with the Grand Duke and Duchess’s foundation since 2010, and they elected to donate its profits from 2016 to the foundation.
