Hereditary Prince Ernst August of Hanover and wife expecting second child

Hereditary Prince Ernst August of Hanover and his wife Hereditary Princess Ekatarina of Hanover are expecting their second baby, the secretary of the couple has announced. The pair already welcomed their first child in February of this year.

Yesterday morning the secretariat of Hereditary Prince Ernst August and Hereditary Princess Ekatarina of Hanover announced with joy that the pair is expecting their second child. Hereditary Princess Ekatarina is expected to be around 16 weeks pregnant. The baby is due in April 2019.

Proud father Hereditary Prince Ernst August told the German press he and his wife are “very happy” to be expecting a new addition to the family.

Hereditary Prince Ernst August and Hereditary Princess Ekatarina were married in July of last year. The father of the groom, also named Prince Ernst August of Hanover, decided not to come to the wedding as he disapproved of his son’s choice of bride. Prince Ernst August is the head of the deposed royal House of Hanover and senior male-line descendant of George III of the United Kingdom. Father and son are still not on speaking terms at the moment.

Stepmother Princess Caroline of Monaco also decided not to come, but her children from a previous marriage, Andrea, Pierre and Charlotte did attend the ceremony. Son Ernst August’s half-sister Princess Alexandra of Hanover, daughter of Princess Caroline and Prince Ernst August, played an important role during the wedding.

On the 22nd of February of this year, Hereditary Prince Ernst August and Hereditary Princess Ekatarina welcomed their first child, a daughter named Elisabeth. Princess Elisabeth of Hanover was born in Hanover as her parents relocated to Germany from London. It is expected that their second baby will also be born in Hanover.

The Hanover dynasty is one of the oldest noble families in Europe. Last week, Ernst August and Ekatarina attended the marriage of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in London.
