Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, is the eldest child of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. He was born on the 11th November 1981 in Luxembourg City. He has four younger brothers and sisters; Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien.

His early education was in Luxembourg, and then at boarding school in Switzerland before spending some of his Tertiary education in England. He studied at Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, as well as spending time at University College Durham and Brunel University. From there he went on to Fribourg and Angers studying philosophy, anthropology and political sciences; he received a bachelor’s degree with honours in 2009.

During his studies, he became the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg upon his father’s accession to the Grand Ducal throne in 2000. When he accedes the Grand Ducal throne, he will become Grand Duke Guillaume (William) V, and theoretically may be on the Grand Ducal throne when Prince William accedes the United Kingdom throne possibly as King William V.
