New official photos of the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg released

The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg released several new official photographs of Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa this morning.

The four images were all taken by Lola Velasco; when Their Royal Highnesses posed for the pictures was not revealed. One of the photos is just of the Grand Duke and two feature the Grand Duchess by herself. The last picture is of the couple together.

This is the second set of images released of the Grand Ducal Couple this year. In April, nine photographs, also taken by Lola Velasco, were released to the press by the Grand Ducal Court ahead of the 62nd birthday of Grand Duke Henri. Henri celebrated his 62nd birthday on 16 April – the same day that his youngest child, Prince Sébastien turned 25 while training at Sandhurst.

As in the pictures earlier this year, one image of the new set also features their beloved dogs in Grand Duchess Maria Teresa’s lap.

Henri met Maria Teresa Mestre y Batista while studying in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. They married in a civil ceremony 4 February 1981. Their religious ceremony was ten days later on Valentine’s Day.

Their Royal Highnesses have five children: Prince Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg (b. 11 November 1981), Prince Félix (b. 3 June 1984), Prince Louis (b. 3 August 1986), Princess Alexandra (b. 16 February 1991) and Prince Sébastien (b. 16 April 1992).

The Grand Duke and Duchess also have four grandchildren. Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah are from Prince Louis’s marriage to Princess Tessy (née Antony). Louis and Tessy announced their separation in January 2017. Princess Amalia and Prince Liam are from Prince Félix’s marriage to Princess Claire (née Lademacher).
