On Tuesday, 17 October, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg attended the 23rd Prix Marquis de Villalobar award ceremony in Madrid, Spain.
The Prix Marquis de Villalobar was created in 1987 to recognise individuals and companies “for their merits in the promotion economic, cultural and social relations between Spain and the Benelux countries,” according to the Grand Ducal Court. It was initiated to honour Mr Carlos Saavedra and Ozores, Marquis de Villalobar for people and businesses who have “made a special contribution to strengthening economic, political, cultural or any other relationship between the country represented by the association and the context of a united Europe.”
This year, the Belgian-Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce presented the Luxembourg airline LUXAIR with the prize in the Spanish capital. Mr Adrien Ney, Managing Director of Luxair, accepted the award on behalf of the company at a gala dinner that evening.
Mr Ney posed alongside the Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess after the event for a group photo that also included representatives of Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg.
Their Royal Highnesses’s attendance came just two days before the couple would celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. On this day in 2012, they wed in a civil ceremony. On 20 October, the couple married in a religious service at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg.
