New images released for Prince Joachim of Denmark’s 50th birthday

Yesterday morning, the Danish Royal House released new images, taken by Steen Brogaard, of Prince Joachim in celebration of his 50th birthday.

One image is in black and white and features His Royal Highness alone while the other picture is a family shot with his wife, Princess Marie; their two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena; and his two children by his first wife, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix.

Joachim celebrated his birthday last night with a black-tie gala dinner hosted by his mother, Queen Margrethe at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. His wife; four children; brother, Crown Prince Frederik; sister-in-law, Crown Princess Mary, nephews, Prince Christian and Prince Vincent; nieces, Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine; ex-wife, Countess Alexandra; and first cousin, Prince Nikolaos and his wife, Princess Tatiana, among others attended.

They dined on white and green Danish asparagus, Fjord shrimp and sauce mousseline, back of spring belly, new onion, spoon and morkel sauce, tart with Beaufort d’Alpage, reserve

Prince Joachim was born on 7 June 1969 to then Crown Princess Margrethe and her husband, Prince Henrik in Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet. He has one older brother, Crown Prince Frederik.

He married his first wife, Countess Alexandra in 1995. They divorced in 2005. He married for a second time to Princess Marie in 2008.
