Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia speaks to Royal Central following Prince Henrik’s death

One of Prince Henrik’s close friends, Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia, has spoken to Royal Central following the news of the Danish Prince’s death.

Giving his reaction to Royal Central’s Europe Correspondent Oskar Aanmoen, the Crown Prince said he and his wife will miss Henrik very much.

Prince Alexander said: “We are very sad about the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Henrik.

“My wife and I extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe and family.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with the Danish Royal Family.”

Crown Prince Alexander also reflected on his time with Prince Henrik, remembering how they spoke French together whenever they met.

He said: “Prince Henrik was a good friend that I admired and respected very much. We spoke French together, and it was always a great pleasure to see him.

“My wife and I will miss him very much.”

It was announced by the Royal Danish House on Wednesday that His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark has died at the age of 83. He was the husband of Queen Margrethe and father to Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim.

The Royal Danish House said in a statement, “His Royal Highness Prince Henrik died on Tuesday, February 13, at. 23.18 peacefully in his sleep at Fredensborg Palace.

“The Prince was surrounded by Her Majesty The Queen and their two sons.”

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Queen Margrethe; son and daughter-in-law, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie; grandchildren, Prince Nikolai, Prince Felix, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Henrik, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine and Princess Athena, as well as several nieces and nephews.
