Crown Prince Frederik will celebrate his 50th birthday on 26 May, and the Danish Royal Court announced on Thursday that a full week of celebrations was planned. They also released two new official photos and the official logo for his birthday.
On 18 May, Crown Prince Frederik will host a special award ceremony for the Crown Prince Frederik Fund. The fund was a gift by the Danish-American people for his 25th birthday, while he was studying at Harvard. He will also have the opportunity to meet with previous recipients of the awards. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will also host a dinner in the evening for the board members and partners of the Fund.
On 21 May, Crown Prince Frederik will take part in the Royal Run race event. Royal Run takes place in the cities of Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg, Odense and Copenhagen / Frederiksberg. People can sign up for two different races, One Mile (1,609 km) and 10 km. His Royal Highness will begin the day in Aalborg by running One Mile; then he will go to Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense. The Crown Prince will end the day in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, running 10 km through the city.

On 23 May, the Crown Prince Couple will visit Aarhus. They will visit Filmby Aarhus, where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be introduced to the city’s film, business and entrepreneurial environment. Then the Crown Prince couple will take part in the opening of the International Sailing Centre on the new waterfront. They will also open a new research centre at Aarhus University’s School of Business and Social Sciences (Aarhus BSS), which will be named “Crown Prince Frederik Centre for Public Leadership”. It will be a centre for delivery of research-based knowledge about public management.

On 24 May, a new portrait of Crown Prince Frederik will be unveiled at the National History Museum at Frederiksborg Palace with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary in attendance. The Crown Prince Couple will open two new exhibitions – ‘HRH Crown Prince Frederik – Prince to Denmark’ and ‘Ralph Heiman’s Portraits’ at the National History Museum.
On 26 May, the day of Crown Prince Frederik’s birthday, he will appear on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace to be celebrated by the Danish people. Queen Margrethe, Crown Princess Mary and his children will also join him. In the evening, a gala dinner will be hosted by Queen Margrethe and attended by the Royal Family and guests from abroad.
Finally, on 27 May, a concert called “The whole of Denmark celebrates the Crown Prince” will be attended by Crown Prince Frederik and the entire Royal Family.
