Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark have foreign exchange student living with them

Have you ever wished you could be a foreign exchange student somewhere and get the opportunity to live with a royal? For one foreign student in Denmark, this is a reality.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark recently revealed at the University of Copenhagen that a foreign exchange student is living with the Crown Prince Couple at their home in Frederik VIII’s Palace, which is part of the Amalienborg Palace complex in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

She was at the University of Copenhagen on 3 May for the annual presentation of The Crown Princess Scholarship. Each year, the scholarship, which is in its 13th year, is given out to two students from the partner universities in Australia of the University of Copenhagen. The two Australian scholars who were awarded the scholarships this year are Avril Jane Francis and Thomas Patrick Lynch. Francis is studying sustainable urban planning at Griffith University while Lynch is working toward a degree in economics at the University of Queensland.

The Crown Princess gave a ten-minute speech in which she revealed that a female international exchange student is currently living with her and her family at the Palace. She did not disclose what country the girl is from. This pupil gets to have an inside look at how the family operates and, no doubt, something to brag about when she returns back home!

Crown Princess Mary has made sure that the student feels right at home in the Danish capital and around Frederik VIII’s Palace. She has done this by helping the student with the Danish language and the country as a whole.

As someone who was once a foreigner herself in Denmark, it comes as no surprise that Her Royal Highness works hard to ensure that the foreign exchange student living with her family feels right at home.
