Queen Paola, wife of King Albert of Belgium, will be celebrating her 80th birthday soon. In honour of this special occasion, the court has announced some festivities.
On Thursday, 29 June the birthday of the previous Queen of the Belgians will be celebrated. Even though King Philippe and Queen Mathilde have taken over the role of reigning King and Queen of Belgium, Queen Paola’s birthday won’t pass by unnoticed. The party is held quite early as Queen Paola’s birthday is 11 September.
On Thursday evening there will be a big party held in the theme of friendship and music. The festivities will take place at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, Belgium. The birthday bash is organised by the Foundation Queen Paola, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and Missing Children Europe. Queen Paola is honorary chairman of the charities and chapel.
The Foundation Queen Paola was founded 25 years ago and has as purpose to promote the integration and formation of youth and to support the educational world. The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is also very important to the Queen. She said about it: “Music and the training of young are very close to my heart, and I am delighted to see them united at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. My dearest wish is that the level of excellence of the Music Chapel will help young talents to give their best and to create an international musical elite beyond borders and cultures.”
The Belgian Royal Court has announced that Queen Paola and King Albert will attend the celebrations along with the entire Belgian Royal family: their oldest son King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their children, daughter Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, their children and their granddaughter Anna Astrid, son Prince Laurent, Princess Claire and their children. This is very special as the Belgian Royal Family hasn’t been fully present since King Philippe became King in July 2013. It will also be the first public outing for Queen Paola’s great-grandchild and daughter of Prince Amedeo, Anna Astrid. The little girl was born in 2016.
