A nod to Princess Grace as Charlotte Casiraghi weds Dimitri Rassam in Monaco

Charlotte Casiraghi has married her partner, Dimitri Rassam, at the Prince’s Palace in Monaco. The eldest granddaughter of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace wed in a civil ceremony on June 1st 2019.

And the bride appears to have taken inspiration from her famous grandmother for her wedding gown. Charlotte wore a stone coloured lace dress by Yves Saint Laurent which featured three bows on the front. The outfit Princess Grace chose for her civil wedding was a lace skirt suit, in pale rose, with bows arranged on the front of the jacket in the same style chosen by her granddaughter.

This latest royal wedding in Monaco was followed by a reception at the Prince’s Palace and a party in the evening for which the bride wore a strapless white evening gown. And there was another nod to Princess Grace as Charlotte also sported a diamond necklace famously worn by her grandmother.

The mother of the bride, Princess Caroline of Hanover, and the groom’s mum, actress Carole Bouquet, had pride of place in the front row at the wedding. Both Charlotte and Dimitri lost their fathers at a young age.

Prince Albert II of Monaco, uncle of the bride, and his wife, Princess Charlene led the royal guests at the celebration. Charlotte’s siblings were out to support her on her big day. Andrea Casiraghi and his wife, Tatiana, attended alongside Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo. Princess Alexandra of Hanover, Caroline’s daughter from her marriage to Prince Ernst August of Hanover, was also there.

Charlotte and Dmitri got engaged in March 2018 and welcomed a son, Balthazar, in October last year. It’s understood their little boy was baptised on their wedding day. Charlotte also has a son, five year old Raphael, from her relationship with Gad Elmaleh while Dmitri has a seven year old daughter, Darya, from his first marriage. All the couple’s children were at the wedding.

Charlotte Casiraghi was born in August 1986 to Princess Caroline and her second husband, Stefano Casiraghi, who died in a speedboat accident in 1990. She is currently eleventh in line to the Monegasque throne.

Charlotte and Dimitri are reportedly planning a second, religious wedding, possibly in the village of Saint-Remy-de-Provence in France where the bride spent her childhood after the death of her father.
