Windsor Castle ‘fully powered’ by River Thames hydropower

The new hydropower systems recently installed on the River Thames are now generating enough power for Windsor Castle, and more according to the director.

David Dechambeau, Director of South East Power engineering said, “At the moment we have perfect conditions. Right now we are producing 200 kWh, meaning the whole castle is being powered… They [turbines] have become so efficient that they don’t use much energy at night so some is going back into the grid.”

According to the BBC, the project should have been completed in 2012, though a variety of setbacks caused the scheme to be delayed.

The Queen spends every weekend at Windsor Castle whilst in London and also spends the entire month of April there during what’s known as ‘Easter Court’.

Prince William’s touching personal message

As the Royal Family gathered to mark Remembrance Sunday, Prince William left a touching message as he laid down his wreath at the Cenotaph, Whitehall.

Following The Queen, the Duke of Cambridge attached a deeply personal message to his large poppy wreath dedicated to two of his close friends who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“For Jo, Lex and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” the note read.

William’s fitting tribute was for friends Joanna Dyer 2nd lieutenant, who he trained with and Major Alexis Roberts who mentored him during his time at Sandhurst.

Madeleine and Chris married this summer in a lavish ceremony in Stockholm, attended by Royals from around the world, including Britain’s Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Prince George already a fashion icon

Despite being only three-and-a-half months old, Prince George has already been named as one of the most influential fashion trendsetters in the United Kingdom.

Department store John Lewis named the mini-monarch an influential fashion icon after Swaddle blankets sold out immediately after he was spotted in a cute blanket when he left the Lindo Wing with parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in July.

Perhaps, George, who will one day become King, is set to have his own “George effect” following in the footsteps of his mother, who has the “Kate effect” which sees most outfits worn by the Duchess become instant sell-outs.
