The Duke of York is set to visit a trade show in Bahrain this week on behalf of HM Government, Buckingham Palace has announced today.
Prince Andrew, who until two years ago was the UK’s Special Representative for Trade and Investment, will visit the country starting from tomorrow and is expected to stay for a few days for the show.
His Royal Highness will be attending a number of events to do with GREAT British Week during his visit as well, which is aimed to focus on core priorities including including Education, Young People & Skills & Entrepreneurship.
Princess Beatrice surprise guest at fashion retail college
Princess Beatrice was today a surprise guest at a presentation by Andrea Wong, President of international production for Sony, as the Fashion Retail Academy in Central London. The Princess, now 25, sat among students listening to the presentation – a surprise to them as they had not been pre-informed of Her Royal Highness’s attendence.
Lady Louise undergoes eye operation
Lady Louise, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, underwent an eye operation late last year to correct a problem linked to her premature birth in November 2003 called exotropia which causes a squint and can lead to double vision and other effects. The operation, which is the second the 10th in line to the throne has had to try and correct the problem, was successful this time despite the first operation when she was 18 months old not being so.
Members of the public who gathered to see the Royal Family on Christmas day are said by Hello! Magazine to have remarked on the change of appearance in Lady Louise’s eyes.
Queen set to attend 60th State Opening of Parliament
The Queen is set to attend her 60th State Opening of Parliament in May, since acceding to the throne in 1952. Having missed the State Opening in 1959 and 1963 due to being pregnant with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, the 87-year-old Monarch – despite celebrating 62 years on the throne in February – only now attends her Diamond State Opening.
It is understood that the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall intend to accompany Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh to the State Opening again this year as the Prince continues to take on more duties.
Princess Madeleine of Sweden will give birth in New York
Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband Chris O’Neill have made the decision to welcome their first child in New York. The Princess, who announced she was pregnant just three months after her wedding to Chris, is expecting a baby girl and “after careful consideration and in consultation with the King and Queen [of Sweden]” will give birth in New York, at the end of February.
Madeleine and Chris, who currently live in New York where Chris works in banking, married in June 2013 in a lavish wedding ceremony attended by the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
The child will be the couple’s first child and and will become fourth-in-line to the Swedish throne.
