Their Royal Highnesses travelled by car and were greeted at Dumfries House by the pipes & drums and then worked there way through lines of people who had gathered for their chance to meet the three royals in Scotland today.

Prince Charles, who holds the title of Duke of Rothesay in Scotland met people who had lined the streets and spoke to members of the Sea Cadets and Army Cadets. The Duke of Rothesay seemed to really be able to raise a smile with those who lined the streets today, despite the weather.

As the Scottish tune Highland Cathedral was played in the background by the Pipes & Drums, the royal trio processed along the line meeting and greeting.

Prince William, the Earl of Strathearn in Scotland, talked to one little girl (this time not offering a kiss) who hd a teddy bear she wished to give to the Countess of Strathearn. William said, “she’ll be along shortly, you can give it to her then, she’ll love it”.

The Duke of Rothesay was then heard talking to one of the event organisers talking about the sea and army cadets who were there in the bitter cold, the woman responded, “we’ll get them cups of tea, Sir!”

The Countess of Strathearn (Kate) wore a red Armani coat which royal fashion watchers say was recycled from 2006.

Prince Charles made a quick speech to the assembled people, keeping it short ‘because of the cold’.

The royal trio will now spend the day involved in engagements around the area of Dumfries.
