The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will be welcoming a new private secretary to join their office in August.
Clive Alderton LVO, the current ambassador to Morroco, will begin working for the royal couple later this year as Principal Private Secretary.
Mr Alderton’s new spell at Clarence House will begin as William Nye, The Prince of Wales’s current Principal Private Secretary, leaves the position in the latter half of 2015.
Speaking of the new appointment, Mr Nye said: “We are delighted to welcome Clive back to Their Royal Highnesses Household, where he has previously served with distinction.”
This is not Mr Alderton’s first time working for the Royal Family. He previously served as a member of the Royal Household for six years until he left in 2012. He started as Deputy Private Secretary to The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in 2006. He was in this job until 2008 when he was promoted to Charles and Camilla’s Private Secretary for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
Upon the announcement of his appointment, Mr Alderton said: “It is a great honour to be appointed to this role and a pleasure to return to serve Their Royal Highnesses. I very much look forward to re-joining the team at Clarence House”.
Mr Alderton became an employee of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1986 and has since served overseas in Poland, Belgium, Singapore and France.
This is not the only change to the staffing structure in the Royal Household. Prince Charles is currently on the hunt for a new Deputy Communications Secretary and Jason Knauf will take up the role as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Communications Secretary in the coming weeks.
