CNN to air interview with Charles and Camilla

While interviews with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are few and far between, CNN’s London correspondent, Max Foster, has landed an interview with the couple.

The interview, filmed at the holiday home Balmoral, is set to air before Prince Charles and Camilla’s four-day trip to The United States.

CNN Spotlight: Charles and Camilla premieres Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 pm ET on CNN. The 30-minute programme features the Prince of Wales explaining the reasons behind the upcoming US tour. He will also discuss The Prince’s Trust, a charity that he founded almost four decades ago, which he is now working on taking global.

Prince William and Prince Harry also come up in the conversation as Prince Charles beams with pride over the work his sons are doing with the causes and charities they have both dedicated their time to. Along with this, Charles also reveals his excitement over welcoming another grandchild.

Max Foster has also promised to explore how Camilla’s public image has improved since the couple first got married nearly ten years ago.

In a CNN news release, Foster has said: “Since the couple visited America as newlyweds a decade ago, the public perception of The Duchess has changed. I wanted to explore that and give viewers a sense of what she’s actually like. The Prince was quick to open up and pay tribute to the role she plays.”

When Prince Charles is asked about Camilla’s public image, he acknowledges the “real challenge” of the public stage. He commented: “It’s always nice to have somebody on your side. She is an enormous support, and sees the funny side of life, thank God.”

The four-day US tour will start off in Washington on March 17th. After three days, including a meeting with U.S President Obama, and a visit to the National Archives to view a copy of the Magna Carta at an exhibit Princess Anne opened earlier, they will journey onto Louisville. When there, Prince Charles is expected to give a speech at a health symposium.
