As royal baby fever sweeps the nation once again, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have confirmed final details ahead of the birth of their second child. Kate is due to give birth towards the end of April and will once again return to the Lindo Wing, the private maternity department of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, also the birthplace of Prince George.
Prince William is currently undergoing training ahead of his new job with the East Anglian Air Ambulance which he is due to start this summer and it has been announced that he will take two weeks paternity leave from this job once the baby arrives. He and Kate will reside at Kensington Palace for the first few days following the birth after which they will travel to Anmer Hall, their country home in Norfolk.
Though the royal couple have thanked the public for their “warm wishes” ahead of the birth of their second child and confirmed that the sex of the baby will be a surprise to William and Kate.
The Lindo Wing will once again be the home of the world’s media as they wait for news on the royal birth.
The birth of the second baby of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge comes less than two years after the birth of Prince George, who was born on the 22nd July 2013. After his grandfather, Prince Charles, and father, Prince William, Prince George is third in line to the throne and when his brother or sister arrives, he or she will be fourth in line.
Also confirmed in the final details ahead of the birth is who will lead the delivery team at the Lindo Wing. Guy Thorpe-Beeston is Surgeon-Gynaecologist to the Royal Household and also consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and will assist in helping to deliver the latest member of the Royal Family.
A royal source has commented, “the Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the warm wishes they have received from people throughout the UK and indeed around the world over the last few months. They know that people are excited that Prince George will soon have a little brother or sister, it means a great deal to them that so many will be celebrating this important moment for their family.”
Though excitement is mounting, it wont be the public who learn of the birth first. The Queen and members of both families will be informed first and should baby be born after 10pm, we will not hear an announcement until at least 8am the following morning. The announcement will be made in the usual way, with an ornate easel displaying a royal bulletin in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace though the official Kensington Palace Twitter account will also announce the news.
So as the world waits with bated breath, the next question on people’s lips is when will Kate return to public duties? It appears that public duties will be the last thing on Kate’s mind as the source is quoted as saying, “as you would expect, with two very young children her focus will be on the family during the summer.” It seems that following the birth, the world will have another ‘Great Kate Wait’ to contend with.

Come on even in the USA Moms can take 12 weeks of leave so let Kate alone about returning to her”royal duties”. Frankly her most important royal duty are the two little children she will be the mother to. (One of whom is the future king!)
Don’t forget, she’ll have two babies under the age of two. That’s exhausting.
l think the priority should be focusing on a birth without any complications and a healthy Mom and child.
