The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will make “great parents” according to rugby player Mike Tindall.
Mike, who is married to Zara Phillips praised William and Kate as he launched a charity gold tournament earlier this week.
“Willy, sorry, Prince William, will be outstanding while Kate is a natural mother,” the ex-England captain said on Tuesday.
“I’m so happy for those two. They’ll be great parents.” he told the Daily Mirror.
Mike, who married Zara in 2011, daughter of Princess Anne, also revealed the royal family are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the royal baby: “The whole family is really excited about the baby,” he said. “I think everyone’s excited.”
Mike also went on to say he and Zara, who is currently twelfth in line for the throne, don’t have plans for their own baby just yet: “Having kids is something we want, but it’s finding that window and we haven’t quite found that yet. It’s difficult,”
The two who married just months after Prince William married Kate Middleton, who is known as The Duchess of Cambridge now, had a small ceremony in Scotland. The Queen and the family made the trip to Scotland for the wedding, where they joined celebrity guests Ben Foden and wife Una healy.
Most recently rumours of marriage problems had hit Mike and Zara, however the rugby player was quick to deny there was any issues.
“It’s in no way true. We’re really happy,” he said.
Mike was speaking to the Daily Mirror as he launched the “Mike Tindall Inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic Event” which will see celebrities take part in a charity golf tournament. Zara Phillips supported her husband at the launch, at the South Lodge Hotel, in Horsham.
The event will help raise funds for two charities close to Mike’s heart, Rugby for Heroes and the On Course Foundation, which supports wounded servicemen though golfing events.
The On Course Foundation has previous royal connections as Mike’s uncle-in-law Prince Andrew is a patron of the foundation.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently awaiting the birth of their first child, which is due in mid-July. The royal baby will become third-in-line after Prince Charles and father-t0-be Prince William.
Prince William married Kate in a lavish ceremony in 2011 at Westminster Abbey watched by a reported two billion people around the world. Since the wedding, Kate the Duchess, has thrown herself into royal duties, most recently attending a garden party with the Queen.
