The Daily Mail has reported that new mother Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge will be resuming public engagements as early as September. According to the Mail, Kensington Palace has confirmed that both she and her husband, The Duke of Cambridge, will be guests of honor at the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards on September 12th.

“It is a long standing engagement,” said a palace spokesperson. Tusk Trust, a wildlife conservation organization that the Duke of Cambridge is a patron of, will organize the event. Though the Duchess is still on maternity leave, the new parents will meet with conservation nominees including Alasdair Harris, founder of Blue Ventures Conservation, Tom Lalampaa, chief operations manager for the Northern Rangelands Trust, and Kerri Wolter, founder of The Vulture Conservation Programme. The winner of the “Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa” will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Though the Duke has already undertaken his first public engagement since the birth of his son, Prince George, in July, the Tusk Conservation Awards will be Catherine’s first official outing. No doubt that royal watchers and fashion police alike will be anxiously awaiting the Duchess’s first post-baby ensemble.

It seems as if the royal couple have taken nicely to parenthood. William was quoted yesterday as saying the new prince is “loud but very good looking.” The Duke also revealed that he and his wife are hopeful to tour Australia next year as their first official visit.
