After the Royal Wedding, Diamond Jubilee and now the royal baby, the royals have certainly given the country reason to celebrate and as the Duchess of Cambridge’s due draws closer, the country is feeling the excitement.

Later today (Sunday 26), more then 200 people are to gather in Horsham to celebrate the new heir to our throne.

The Royal Baby Shower Street Party, will follow the success of the last two street parties which marked the Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee, and residents were keen to carry on the tradition. The road on Norfolk Terrace in Horsham has been cleaned and the bunting has been put up.

Event organizer Victoria Duffield said: “We were hoping the Royal family would give us something else to celebrate this year and when William and Kate announced their baby was due, we were delighted.

“As well as being a great excuse for a party, the event also raises money for local charities and fosters a wonderful community spirit.”

The Royal Baby Shower, which will feature live music throughout the day, as well as a Grand Raffle and Skills Auction, will not only be celebrating the new heir, but will also be raising money for Emily’s Trust, a Horsham-based charity for young people affected by meningitis. The trust was set up after Emily Darbyshire contracted meningitis.

She survived, but her illness left her with a severe brain injury. However, with support, she has learnt to speak and write again and gone back to education.

Emily said: “I am so happy the Norfolk Terrace square community are supporting Emily’s Trust.

They will be making a much needed donation as well as raising the profile of the trust locally.”

Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge is only weeks away from giving birth to her and Prince William’s first child and excitement is building. US network ABC announced plans this week for a Royal baby tv special to air on Monday.

In recent weeks, Kate has been preparing for the arrival of the baby, which will become third-in-line. The Duchess has been spotted in an exclusive baby boutique in London, with mother Carole. The pair spent nearly an hour looking at the baby selection before leaving with a moses basket. Kate is expected to give birth mid-July and will take maternity leave from royal duties.
