Prince William and pregnant Kate will welcome their first child in mid-July

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge are just weeks away from welcoming their first child.

As Kate’s due date approaches, excitement levels are rising and the Royal Baby is becoming a hot topic around the world, with the hashtag #Royalbaby already a top trend worldwide on Twitter earlier this week.

Now it has been revealed the majority of people in the United Kingdom and United States believe Prince William and pregnant Kate are having a baby girl.

According to a survey carried out by Research Now, 60% of people in the US and 52% of people in the UK believe Kate will have a baby girl. The poll, which surveyed 2,975 people, also revealed that 50% of people in Australia believe we will have a Princess.

Surprisingly, the same poll showed Spencer as a favourite boy’s name from people in the UK, while Edward was the US’ favourite with Australians believing George was a favourite.

Elizabeth was the most popular choice by the British, while Americans and Australians believed the baby will be called Diana, in memory of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

It was also revealed most people believe Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton will be godparents, while in America a very small margin of people even suggested Kim Kardashian and Kanye West could be godparents. Elton John, Lady Gaga and Jk Rowling were also potential godparents chosen by people.

Earlier this month, it was revealed Prince William and Kate have decided to wait until the baby is born to find out the sex. However, since the December announcement, rumours have swirled and earlier this year Kate caused a media frenzy when she appeared to let slip they were expecting a girl, however Kate was quick to insist the couple did not know.

The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to give birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington London, following the footsteps of Princess Diana who gave birth to Prince William and Prince Harry in the same hospital.

Will and Kate have asked for an “appropriate degree of sensitivity,” when the baby is born. It is expected the couple will appear on the hospital steps for a photo call before leaving the hospital.

A royal aide added “they also know it’s a time to celebrate and many will want to share in their joy.”
