Prince George has been named one of the most fascinating people of 2013, by American TV host Barbara Walters.

The four-month-old son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was selected as one of Barbara’s ten fascinating people of the year as she announced the annual list.

Third-in-line George joins his parents in gaining a place on the list as Prince William appeared in 1997, while Kate first made the cut in 2010 just months before their Westminster Abbey wedding ceremony.

The future King’s great-grandmother The Queen was also named as one of the most prominent figures in the public eye in 2002, when she appeared on the list, while Prince Harry gained a spot last year, in 2012. Prince Charles’ wife, the Duchess of Cornwall was also included in 2005.

In 2011, Barbara Walters also selected Auntie Pippa Middleton to feature on her annual list after the Duchess’ sister gained worldwide attention after the Royal Wedding in April of that year.

Earlier this year, the world celebrated as Prince William and Kate welcomed their first child on July 22, in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington, London.

The couple had kept the sex of their first child a secret from the media and many speculated the name ‘George’ would be chosen if Kate gave birth to a boy.

A day after the Prince’s arrival, the proud couple left the hospital in front of the world’s media, with both the Duke and Duchess revealing the experience had been “very emotional”.

In September, the new parents and George relocated to Kensington Palace as William’s tour of duty with the RAF in Wales came to and end.

William and Kate, who are currently balancing royal duties and parenthood, are expected to travel to Australia and New Zealand in 2014 and George is likely to travel with the couple.
