It seems that of all the gifts that have been bestowed on The Cambridges during their trip to New Zealand and Australia, Prince George is making out the best – and soon he’ll have quite the collection of water sports equipment with which to entertain himself.
While in New Zealand earlier in the week the young prince, who will be celebrating his first birthday on July 22, received a custom (and miniaturized) Sealegs boat, and when he visits Manly, Australia with his parents today he’ll be receiving a surfboard made especially for him.
The mayor of Manly, Jean Hay, decided that the six foot long surfboard would be the perfect gift for the prince, as Manly actually retains the trademarked name “Surf City Australia.” Prince George may not yet be old enough to use either of these two items (or even to understand fully what they are!) but hopefully he’ll be able to utilize them on holiday as he gets older.
During their visit to Manly, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be quite busy. Their day will begin with a demonstration of lifesaving skills by nippers from local surf clubs – which will also showcase demonstrations by the surf club members, followed by a visit to Bear Cottage Children’s Hospice.
