Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to hospital ‘in the early stages of labour’

She was admitted in the early hours of this morning after going into labour.

The Duke and Duchess were staying at Kensington Palace as thought.

The official press release said, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour.”

“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

Based on this announcement, we may be welcoming this baby Prince or Princess to the world later today.

It is believed that the Duchess is a few days overdue, though many are glad now labour has begun – least of all the reporters who will be waiting outside the Lindo Wing.

The Queen will likely be pleased with this confirmation of labour now as she is going to Balmoral Castle on Friday and may not have had a chance to see the Royal Baby otherwise.

Two police officers have now taken up post outside the main entrance of the Lindo Wing and there is a stronger police presence in general.

We will update you with more info as we know more.
