The ‘Kate Effect’ works magic for Topshop

A dress worn by Kate Middleton on Friday has become an instant sell-out.

The “Kate Effect” once again shows no signs of slowing down as within an hour of arriving at Friday’s engagement, the dress was sold out online.

The Duchess of Cambridge decided to wear the £38 Polka dot dress from Topshop for her visit to Hertfordshire on Friday, where her, Prince William and Prince Harry were given a special tour of the Harry Potter studios.

Within an hour, the Kate Effect had worked its magic as Kate fans stormed the High Street’s website leading to the item selling out with customers then greeted with a “Sorry, this item is out of stock” message.

The Duchess has been an avid fan of Topshop, and has regularly been seen stocking up on fashionable items from the retailer in London. Just last month, Kate was spotted in a black and white collared dress as she attended the Child Bereavement Centre in Buckinghamshire.

The Kate effect has been credited with bringing in over a billion pounds to the British fashion industry, and most recently Kate was named as one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
