Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit 9/11 Memorial

<![CDATA[On a very rainy New York day, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the The National September 11 Memorial.
Under the shield of umbrellas, William and Catherine laid a bouquet of white roses and a handwritten note stating: "In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th Sep & in admiration of the courage to rebuild.”

The Royal couple toured the museum site, viewing an exhibit that contained a collage of those who perished in the horrific tragedy of that fateful September day.
The National September 11 Memorial honours and remembers those killed in the 11 September 2011 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
Sixty-seven British citizens were among those who died in the attack, the most of any foreign country.
The Memorial’s contains twin reflecting pools approximately an acre in size which include the largest artificial waterfalls in the North America.
The pools are located near the exact area where the Twin Towers once stood.
The names of each person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are engraved into bronze panels that border the Memorial pools as a reminder to the immense tragedy over 13 years ago.
Upon departing, William and Kate signed their names noting their visit on Tuesday.
The Duke and Duchess have events scheduled to see the work they carry out in partnership with the CityKids Foundation as well as scheduled events on behalf of the UK Government’s GREAT Campaign.
Tuesday evening the Royal couple will attend the St Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Royal Central will provided coverage via Twitter @royalcentral and report on Tuesday’s additional events later in the day.
