The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have pleased children at a primary school in Lancashire, after sending a personalised thank you card to the youngsters.

Prince William and Kate took the time to send reception and year one classes at Bryning with Warton St Paul’s Primary School the card after they sent the new parents a congratulations card to mark Prince George’s christening.

Five-year-old pupil Conno Newby revealed he was very “excited” when the classes received the special card, which had a Buckingham Palace postmark and a ‘W’ (to represent Prince William) on the back, from the royals to pass on their appreciation.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank everyone in Harriers Class for taking the trouble to send a wonderful card,” the message read.

“It was really the most thoughtful of you and their royal highnesses send you all their warmest thanks and best wishes.”

The card, which thrilled the young children, included an official picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George from his October christening.

“We didn’t expect a response,” said teacher Liz Towers. “It was to be acknowledged by such famous people.”

Last month, William and Kate were joined by close family and friends at St James’s Palace for their first child’s christening.

Senior Royals including The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry all attended the 30-minute service inside the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.

The Duchess of Cambridge revealed a day later Prince George had been on his best behaviour during the service, which was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

“He was such a good boy actually,” Kate said, as she attended a reception at Kensington Palace. “We were very lucky, he’s not always like that.”
