The Duchess of Cambridge has turned her talents to writing as she has penned the foreword for a new book about life as an RAF wife.
New mum Kate, 32, has written the foreword for ‘Living in the Slipstream: Life as an RAF Wife’ which is a collection of stories told by the wives of Royal Air Force servicemen.
“I loved my time in Anglesey,” the Duchess wrote, about her and William’s time on the Island while the Prince worked as a search-and-rescue pilot.
“But I can’t pretend I didn’t feel anxious when William was flying in challenging conditions, but he loved it and I felt incredibly proud of him.”
It is believed after being approached about doing something for the book, Kate decided “she would like to do a foreword,” according to a royal source.
The book, which aims to reveal what life is really like for an RAF wife will include “witty and touching” tales spanning from the 1950s to the present day.
It will be the first book the Duchess of Cambridge has written for, although her sister Pippa Middleton has released her own book, Celebrate. which was released in 2012.
Louise Campbell, a rep for Book Guild Publishing which will release the book, explained the three editors, who are all wives of RAF personnel believed Kate was the perfect choice for the foreword.
“I think that they just felt that obviously it would lend the book some amazing credibility to have a forward by somebody that’s obviously in the public eye, but is also an RAF wife herself,” she told E! News.
The foreword is not the first time Kate has expressed her concerns for William when he is on duty.
In July 2011, during a visit to Canada, the Duchess told a service wife: “I always worry when William goes off on a mission.
“You always fear for them, not knowing if something is going to happen, it can be very hard.”
The book will be released in May and the profits will be split between the Royal Air Forces Association and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
